Daily Show

1/25/2012     8pm daily    Comedy Central
Comedy

  • The Daily Show is a political Comedy show.  The Comedy show takes current events in the political world and makes fun of the current events going on.  Before to long Elections for the president is going to begin and the political world is going wild again like it does every four years.  The daily show comes on daily during the week days from the daily show studio in New York City.  The daily show started July 1996 and is still airing to this present day.  The host of the Daily show from 1996 to 1998 was Craig Kilborn. The current host is Jon Stewart and has been the current host since 1998.  The music for the Daily Show is written by Bob Mould and performed by celebrated indie rock band They Might Be Giants.
Former Correspondents of the Daily show are Stephen Colbert.  During the Show Stephen Colbert would have his own segment during the series called the Colbert report.  now Steven Colbert has his own show that comes on after the Daily show called the Colbert report.
During the Program there are many different commercials.  the commercials during the program consist of many different types. the main types of commercials were commercials for other shows on the network comedy central such as south park, the Colbert report, tosh.o, and Futurama.  Other commercials were commercials for movies coming out such as The Grey, and The Woman In Black.  there were cell phone commercials for AT&T quite a bit and others food like Kat Kat Bar.  lastly there were commercials on the Daily show for taxes with H and R block.  There were many commercials during the Daily show which seem to be the same on other networks and the same except for the ones that had to do with shows that were on the actual network.
Finally the story line was about the up and coming presidential candidates and weather or not president Obama should be reelected.  based of the show i didn't feel that the Daily Show felt President Obama should be president again.  During the show there were little remarks on other political events going on but the main focus and I'm sure the main focus will be until the new or reelected president is voted in,  will be only story lines about who should be President and what the President can offer or already has.

  •             The Style of the Daily Show is Comedy.  The Comedy used in the Daily show is very funny.  The Humor used though sometimes is too far or base.  There is know limit to the humor because it is sometimes racist, sexist, and anything bad although it is funny it may be offensive to some people.  at least i believe they are just truly kidding and only reading from a script.  Another Style of the humor that i see during the show is during interviews during the show the host tend to make jokes or attack the person being interviewed.  i feel that the people being interviewed most the time don't totally understand that the host is kidding with them or making jokes and the interviewers are not sure how to respond. the daily show is filmed on location in New York so many interviewers travel there to be interviewed.   The Daily show is very unique because it is different from other shows and different.  It is the only show aside from the Colbert report that focuses on and the entire show makes fun of recent politics.  There is no show or ever has been to my knowledge that has made fun of politics and to go with that lasted as long as it has.  After watching the Daily Show for a couple weeks now i am very impressed at how they pull off there jokes and not end up being sued or shut down.  Although everything the host Jon Stewart says is funny many could take it offensively and people apparently don't since i could not find any information of The Daily Show ever being sued by anyone.

  •          I do not see any stereotypes project through Jon Stewart at all.  Jon Stewart and the interviewer if one are the only people on the show.  The shows Producers obviously do not avoid stereotypes this is because they make fun of them on the show or use them to make jokes or the advance and get there point across.  I believe the commercials during the show are broad casted to anyone of any age because the show targets anyone of any age because anyone of any age is involved in politics.  There isn't only one age group involved or interested in politics.  I i was from another country and i saw this show i would think that the American people think there government is a joke and would most likely laugh if i could understand the show.

  •           I believe that except for the jokes on the Daily Show which obviously don't have a limit that the show is only strong and has strengths.  this show calls out politics in every aspect and challenge them if they are in the wrong.  The Daily show isn't afraid to call anyone out.  While watching this show I liked every bit of it.  There wasn't one part of the show that i didn't like.  This show is worth telling everyone about just because the fact that it is so funny and isn't afraid to call out anyone or joke about them.  Although Rotten Tomatoes didn't rater Jon Stewart very high he is rated very high in my book.  Many people in politics do not like the Daily Show and rather talk badly about them but the reason most likely for that is because they have most likely talked about them.

  •     I can Honestly say that i now watch the Daily show on a consistent basis.  It is very funny to me and in some ways has actually increased my interest in Politics.  I do know that my Family Occasionally watches the Daily Show and A few of my Friends watch it on a consistent Basis.  I do need to check out the website though and I am not a fan on Face book.

I Learned from this assignment that Politics arnt always serious and can actually be fun and very funny at times granted this show is on.  The shows surprisingly is very funny and i have learned not only a lot about the show from this assignment but as well as a lot about politics.
